Tripoli Large Rocket Altitude Record!
5464'
Tripoli Rocketry Assoc. keeps track of altitude records for several classes, one of these is "Large rocket altitude". For this class the rocket must meet a minimum size for each motor. For the H and I class the rocket must be at least 3.75" in diameter for a length of 36". This rocket was made by Mark Clark using 3.98 LOC airframe tube and nose cone. The boat tail was of carbon fiber/epoxy laid up in a mold made from a PML nose cone. Motor used for this flight was a Kosdon I255 with no ejection charge. This is not the optimum motor but it was the best that was at hand. Weight without motor was less then 1.5 pounds.
This rocket was destroyed on it's next flight going for the Large H record.
